Motion Analyzer Support
The Project contains all the data for a system, including project components (Axes, Profiles, Transmissions, or Linear Mechanisms) customer data, and the bill of materials. There are no restrictions to the number of axes in a project.
There are five sections of the project:
Summary Contains basic information and a list of available actions
Components Detail Provides detailed information on the list of components in the project. Bus Sharing between compatible drives can also be configured on this page.
Power Analysis Detailed power analysis and shunt and power supply selection for the different axes and shared bus systems.
Customer/Site Project information including customer contact and project industry and application. Project Altitude and ambient temperature can also be configured here.
Selected Products A bill of material for all products selected in the product. Products can be viewed on an axis by axis basis or by product type. Accessories for products can also be added. The bill of material can be exported to excel.
Projects and project components can all be shared with other users. If a project is shared with another user they have access to the entire project. However, a single component can be shared with another user without giving them access to the rest of the project. User access rights can be restricted to read/write, read/copy, or read only. Read/copy allows for users to duplicate a copy of the project to their library, but not make edits to the original.
An Axis is the complete system from the drive to the load for a single direction of movement. This system can include a Profile, Linear Mechanism, Transmission, Motor and Drive. These components can be defined within the axis, imported from the user Library, or found through the system solution search. A profile and power specifications (Phase and Voltage) are the two components needed before searching for solutions.
A Profile defines the desired motion of the axis and the various forces and inertias opposing that motion, such as mass, friction or an externally applied force. A profile can either be linear or rotary. A linear profile is used for loads that move in straight line. Units for linear profiles are distance (cm, in) and force (N, lb). A rotary profile is used for loads that spin or rotate. Units for rotary profiles are rotary distance (rev, deg, rad) and torque (Nm, lb-ft).
A Transmission is an object that transmits power from a rotary motor to a rotary load or linear mechanism. Transmissions have five types: gearboxes, spur gears, belt drives, couplings, and chain and sprockets. Any number of transmissions can be combined together in a series. This is sometimes referred to as the powertrain.
A Transmission is an object that converts power from a rotary motor to a linear load. This allows for linear loads to be driven by a rotary motor. There are 4 types of linear mechanisms: belt drive, chain and sprocket, rack and pinion, and lead screw. Only one linear mechanism can be applied to an axis with a linear profile. With a linear mechanism, the search results will only include rotary motors. Without the mechanism, the solution will consist of linear mechanisms and actuators.
A Custom Motor is a user defined induction motor that is not included in Motion Analyzer. Custom motors are defined with the custom motor tool and must be added to an axis in order to be included in the solution.
A Product List is a list of products identified through the product browser. This list can be used as a filter during the solution search in order to restrict the search to products in the list. Product lists can be used to save interesting products, create a company stock list, limit selection to certain frame sizes or configurations and more.
